Design

I use a template-based design process when creating web sites. An increasingly popular option for template-based design and one that I highly recommend for web site development is the use of a WordPress® theme (template).

WordPress® templates offer the following features and advantages:

  • User Friendly: Simple changes and edits to a WordPress®-based web site are quite straightforward for those possessing a basic level of computer experience. While I am always available for site maintenance once a web site is live, it is not difficult for you to manage your own site edits if that is your goal.
  • Supports Sophisticated Technology: As user-friendly as a WordPress®-based web site is, it is also an ideal foundation for more technologically-heavy sites, such as those presenting video, audio, slideshows, social networking, lots of photos, etc. A myriad of free and readily-applied WordPress® plugins/widgets allow you to do just about anything that you want and can be installed in a jiffy. For example, if you would like to add a Twitter® feed to your blog or sidebar, just look on Google or search the WordPress® support forum and you can usually find the relevant plugin or widget that will easily do the job for you.
  • Not Just a Blog Anymore: Although WordPress® originated as a product to create blogs, most themes/templates can be configured to make a web site look and function like a conventional site instead of a blog. You have the option to include a blog, but it is not necessary when using WordPress® to create your site.
  • Standards Compliant: WordPress® follows current web standards and keeps a web site compliant to the general rules recommended by the World Wide Web Consortium (W3C) for site production and development.
  • Search Engine Friendly: We all know that search engines need to be kept in mind when building a web site. WordPress® utilizes a variety of different functions to create web sites properly optimized for search engines.

Alternatively, I am happy to configure a template that you have selected from another resource (eg. online template company such as Allwebco Design or Intuit).
